Presented at New York Fashion Week (Mens), Teddy Ondo Ella launches namesake tailoring line.
Titled Heritage, the show opened with a special performance by OKOUYI ceremony Mamisoba, The Spirit of Truth, and featured 25 looks inspired by Teddy’s home country of Gabon. Like any good storyteller, Teddy Ondo Ella goes beyond the physical garments and invests meaning into all his collections. Strongly influenced by anti-colonisation that took place in Africa during the 1960’s and his Gabonese roots, Teddy Ondo Ella' SS18 collection pays homage to a more inspired time in men’s fashion, while also rejecting modern-day, mass media culture, stereotypes and cultural appropriation.
