This season New Era have teamed up with Allan Buxton on their latest West Coast pack.
When you think of the West Coast of America, chances are you find yourself thinking of the sandy beaches of San Diego, ‘America’s finest city’, or the palm-lined boulevards of California’s unofficial heart, Los Angeles, or the steep hills of San Francisco, the City by the Bay.
You’d also be forgiven for thinking about the baseball teams that reside in those cities, three of the best known and most celebrated teams in the sport; the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres.
New Era are celebrating their history in America’s Golden State and their partnership with Major League Baseball by introducing their West Coast Pack, the latest drop in New Era’s Summer collection, and they’ve teamed up with stop motion director and animator Allan Buxton to do it.
For the project with New Era, Buxton has taken on the baseball legacy of the three cities and the synonymous brand and run with it, creating a series of short stop motion films that show animated characters playing ball on each cap. Working off the designs New Era have created for each city and team, Buxton has used blue for San Francisco to match the stripe motif on the cap, pink to match the sunset-and-palm-tree motif that is synonymous to Los Angeles, and yellow to match the Native American-inspired pattern used for San Diego, a nod to the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Whether you’re batting for San Francisco, catching in San Diego or pitching out of Los Angeles, the New Era West Coast Pack has something to offer everyone, just like the West Coast itself. Shop the collection online and in-store now.
