This month Levi's celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Type III Trucker jacket with an exclusive exhibition in Berlin.
Having opened this past weekend, the exhibition seeks to tell the story of one of the most iconic pieces of American clothing – the 1967 70505 Type III Trucker jacket – otherwise known as the definitive jeans jacket.
Featuring photography and specially commissioned and customised Levi’s® Trucker jackets, the exhibition will take visitors on an immersive journey of reinterpretation and re-imagination of a piece of clothing that has become the ultimate blank canvas for authentic self-expression, a mainstay of the fashion world and an icon in and of itself. Highlights from the exhibition include:
A carefully curated selection of photography from the next generation of groundbreaking creatives from across Europe. Collectives from France, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Poland, Turkey, the UK, Italy, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium have each created a photographic homage to life lived in the Levi’s® Trucker jacket and, as part of this, will be exhibiting their ultimate reinterpretation of the product during the exhibition. Amongst the next generation of breakthrough creatives are street artists, designers, rappers, musicians and photographers; these are friends who work, travel and play together. Expect to be inspired by the creative interpretations from the likes of Frisco from BBK and renowned music photographer Jordan Curtis Hughes. Each jacket is unique, one of a kind, and has been exposed to a variation of design techniques including embroidery, rhinestones, patchwork, patches and bold slogans.
The exhibition will run until the 29th of October at, Chausseestrasse 131, 10115 Berlin. The exhibition also features a pop-up Levi’s® Tailor Shop, where visitors will be able to buy and customise their own Levi’s® Trucker jacket with the help of Germany’s renowned Levi’s® tailor, Paula Kunkel for the duration of the exhibition.
