Inspired by her obsessions about everything 90's Brit, creative director Ditte Reffstrup has created a collection based on her two English muses, Queen Elizabeth and Damon Albarn.
The GANNI Autumn/Winter collection pulls the two contrasts of Ditte's muses together to form a collection of easy to wear statement pieces such as the autumn stand-out look; a jacket and matching pants in 1990s-era velvet, updated in dove blue, with fresh, wide-leg pants and a cool, collarless jacket.
Elsewhere, the influence of Brit-pop cool extends to a floral brocade mini skirt and blazer, a sports-casual zip-up tracksuit jacket with black lace detailing, and the collection’s colour palette: restricted to dove blue, greens and browns, with a flash of pink.
In a collection of opposites, Ditte also playfully references the British royal family, with an argyle-knit sweater and the collection’s hero accessories: a sugar-candy pink plastic snake-effect mini-shoulder bag and matching shoes with a chunky transparent heel – a nod to prim-and-proper dressing, but fantastic, fun and utterly covetable.
Along with the Ganni Fall/Winter 2016 show an of-the-runway T-shirt is launched on www.ganni.com.
Internationally the classic version of a runway show is being re-evaluated to ensure continued relevance. Ganni wants to contribute to the development by live streaming the show directly on the brand’s website and by making a runway piece available for instant sale.
The full-sleeved white cotton shirt with the cheeky slogan “Game Over You Lose” printed across the chest is featured on the catwalk and will be available for purchase at the Ganni website and selected Ganni stores.
