This season contemporary menswear brand, Universal Works celebrates "The Pass".
The autumn/winter collection finds its influence behind the idea of passing something on, similar to the brands beginnings six years ago. However, the collection focuses on something new coming out of the past, from humble beginnings that in the process of being passed on become more social and gain deeper value.
The palette for AW15 is muted in colour; conventionally masculine, predominately black, navy, charcoal and olive; more grown up with the idea of mixing black and navy together often on the same garment. There are little highlights of playful colour that act as an intended splash of fun amongst the subtle colours and tonal variations of the rest the collection.
The key shapes are the mixing of 80’s street and smart; an everyday suit jacket with a loose tapered pant, smart coats with sport pants, luxury knits with worker pants and also shorter bomber jacket variations from sportswear of the same time. Melton and Italian wools play a key role within the tailored silhouettes, whilst merino wools, mohair knits, super soft jersey, as well as the much loved staples of Japanese and English washed and over-dyed cottons make an appearance in the more casual styles.
