Italian brand President have commissioned Ari Marcopoulos' photography as their Spring collection artwork.
Founded in 1957, President have merged the lines between streetwear and classic Italian sartorialism with the vision of creating and designing for a contemporary gentleman, creating modern classics Made in Tuscany.
Each season the brand commissions an artists work and for their Spring 2015 collection President have continued their tradition and chose Montauk, 2011, the shot Ari Marcopoulos took of the surfer Julius Yudelson in Ditch Plains.
As a photographer, film artist and adventurist, Marcopoulos began his career in New York City assisting Andy Warhol, transplants himself into the intimate lives of people living on the edge. Artists, snowboarders, musicians and skateboarders have been both muses and commercial subject-matter throughout his quarter century career as a photographer. His stunning landscapes and playful portraiture offer a dramatic take on every day life, and a glimpse into all things awesome. Marcopoulos’s first mid-career survey in the United States was presented at The Berkeley Art Museum in 2010.
Montauk, 2011 will also enter President’s private collection.
